The California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (Cal Fire) is dedicated to fire prevention and protection of California’s privately and publicly-owned wildlands and is the lead agency battling the wildfires currently burning across California – the worst in the state’s history. The men and women fighting on the frontlines are true heroes and now, Discovery Channel, in partnership with Cal Fire is bringing their battle on the fire lines to viewers at home in the brand-new multiplatform series, CAL FIRE premiering 4Q 2020. In the series, multiple camera crews have been embedded with Cal Fire’s frontline firefighters across the state – from Shasta in the North to San Diego in the South for the past three months, deploying cutting edge technology including fire-resistant helmet cameras to bring viewers an ultra-immersive perspective on the blazes. Crews had to undergo “Red Flag” training and were equipped with special protective gear in order to accompany the firefighters on the fire lines. During California’s most destructive fire season ever, Cal Fire has deployed all of its 7,000 firefighters, and the worst is likely yet to come as they prepare for the fast-approaching Santa Ana wind season in Southern California. With more than 3.5 million acres burned, 6000 homes destroyed, and more than two dozen lives lost, Cal Fire is waging war on the catastrophic fires.
Magnolia Network, scheduled to launch October 4, is delaying its debut until 2021 due to production shutdowns caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. “Right now, it’s important that we all continue to look out for one another by upholding the guidelines set forth by the experts, leaders and front-line heroes working tirelessly to get us all through this difficult time,” said Chip and Joanna Gaines, who are partnering with Discovery Inc. for the joint venture. “With this as our top priority, we’ve decided to delay Magnolia Network’s launch until we can safely resume production.”
Fixer Upper is getting a reboot and moving to upcoming Magnolia Network, Discovery Inc.’s joint venture with series stars Chip and Joanna Gaines. “The day we wrapped our final episode of Fixer Upper, we really believed it was a chapter closed. We knew we needed a break and a moment to catch our breath,” said the Gaineses. “I don't think either of us anticipated how the show would become such a permanent fixture in our hearts.” The renovation show ran for five seasons on HGTV, wrapping in 2018 as the #1 unscripted show in cable television. Magnolia Network is set to make its debut in 2021.

Food Network brings out the childhood imagination of five teams made up of professional cake and sugar artists on the new primetime competition series Candy Land, inspired by the classic Hasbro children's game. Through six episodes, Emmy and Tony Award-winning actress and singer Kristin Chenoweth hosts and guides the teams through the fantastical world of Candy Land, challenging them to create heavenly confectionary showpieces, all the while being thrown curveballs every step of the way by Lord Licorice that puts the teams' skills to the ultimate test. Premiering Sunday, November 15th at 9:00 pm (ET), each episode features the teams stepping into one of the eye-popping lands come to life, including giant candy canes in the Peppermint Forest, life-size gumdrops at the Gumdrop Mountains, a real life gingerbread house at Chocolate Mountain, enormous and luscious lollipops in the Lollipop Woods, and lemons growing right off the vines in the Lemon Lime Springs. The players must forage for flavors and unique ingredients within each land to use for their sugar masterpieces before presenting to judges Nacho Aguirre and Aarti Sequeira who determine which teams advance down the board game path based on creativity, technical execution, and how well the candies of the land were incorporated. The first team to make it to King Kandy's Castle wins the game and earns the grand prize of $25,000.
Big Ten Football returns and will kick off on FOX, FS1 and BTN the weekend of October 23rd. The Conference unanimously voted to implement a nine game per school schedule. Each team will play eight Conference games plus an additional inter-division game that will pit corresponding seeds against each other. The #1 seeds in each division will face off in the Conference championship in December on FOX.
